Quote-leftOne of the worst beers of all time. We bought a 12 pack once and drank 1 and couldn't stomach any more. Now the cans are just a joke. We sneak them in to each others houses and leave them somewhere in the fridge, only to somehow find one in your fridge a few weeks later. That is about all this beer is good for.Quote-right

Quote-leftOh wait, no, THIS was the drink of choice.Quote-right

Quote-leftI gave it a 1/2 star, but if zero stars were possible, I would switch to that.
This has got to be the most god-awful stuff ever commercially sold.
I sometimes buy this stuff and use it as a joke in my beer judge certification
classes.

However, there was an interesting murder case locally recently
that involved this beer:

"Man accused of killing friend, buying alcohol with his Social Security money"

Police say a homeless San Jose man killed his friend and buried him in a shallow grave near Alviso, and that the suspected killer spent the next four months cashing the dead man's Social Security checks to buy vermouth and Steel Reserve beer.

Robert Earnest Plummer, 52, was arrested Friday and booked on a charge of murder, police said.

It was the city's 23rd homicide — a patrol officer responding to a routine disturbance cracked the whole thing open. During his call, officer Ted Ramos learned that one of the elderly men at the encampment had been missing for months. Some people suspected Plummer was involved.

Police developed information about where the body was buried, and soon they found his decomposed body in a dirt grave. Police did not release the dead man's name, pending notification of his relatives.

Scouring cheap hotels, Ramos finally found Plummer in an Easy 8 Motel.
Plummer and his 70-year-old victim had been friends for years, according to detective Sgt. Mike Brown, and hung out together at a homeless encampment off Tasman Drive.

But after he killed him in April, police allege, Plummer used the man's ATM card to withdraw the man's SSI payments. Brown estimated that $3,000 to $5,000 was taken. The last transaction was just a few days before the arrest.
But Brown cautioned that it was unclear if Plummer's motivations for the slaying were purely financial.

Anyone who may know of this crime or of any financial crimes by Plummer may contact Brown or detective Dave Anaya at (408) 277-5283. Anonymous tipsters may call (408) 947-STOP.Quote-right
