In 1040 the Benedictine monastery of Weihenstephan was given permission to brew beer in the town of Freising, and also to sell it. Today, the Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan justifiably claims to be the oldest brewery in the world still in operation.
500 ml bottle poured into a Sweetwater 420 hefe glass. This head and not a lot of lacing. Color is a clear straw yellow, pretty active carbonation.
Smell is a husky grain, with a hint of citrus. Taste has a more enhanced lemon flavor, with a dry biscuity character.
Mouthfeel is light bodied, yet slightly sticky on the lips. This is an OK beer
Even though I like my beer dark like I like my women, this one is good for a lighter color than my preference.
the long lager time makes this pale beer a matter of mild flavourful beer enjoyment.
