In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you
Great taste. Starts well and finishes stong. Excellent Belgian style beer.
The first thing that came to mind was the similarities between Local 1 and the Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse. Like the Hopfen-Weisse, this beer revealed some interesting European flair, only this time it focused more on the Belgian front than German. The tastes were rather delicate yet still held nice complexities that pushed me to indulge further into the bottle. Yeast flavors took the forefront at the end of each sip, while the nose was rather non-aromatic. I will say though that the bottle that I tasted was aged for at least a year. If anyone is a fan of the Brooklyn Brewery, this is a must try item. I would definitely repurchase it again and look forward to getting my hands on the Local 2 that is soon to come out. As an additional note, I did stir up the content of this fine craft as it reached the bottom of the bottle. The flavors became a bit more pronounced in some aspects, but nothing that made it worth kicking up the sediment.
Absolutely great strong Belgian style ale. Must try for those who like high flavor, high alcohol, big beer.
