American ale with a full body, deep golden color, and hoppy finish
I'm a big IPA fan, I like my beers hoppy, and this one does not disappoint. At 10% ABV, it'll work a number on your if you're unprepared. While it hits hard like an Imperial IPA should, it is slightly less balanced than others I've had. I'd buy it again. but feel that Rogue's I2PA and Elysian's "Hubris" are superior products.
Nise! A bit on the stronger side....they will definatly sneak up on you while drinking a few.
Copper pour with a 1 finger, foamy, off-white head. Citrus and orange aroma with a note of spice, some dark fruit and a subtle caramel background. Grapefruit flavor pops up first, notes of orange peel, spice and more dark fruits on the finish. Hints of bannana/belgian yeast character in the aftertaste. Some alcohol too. Medium-full body.
Here is the thing about IPAs - you either love them or you hate them. I suspect that those who enjoy strong lagers will like these high alcohol content pale ales (I can't tell the difference except that the IPAs, as ales, are a tiny bit less acidic and crisp than strong lagers). I just don't think "bitter" is the one and only flavor I'm looking for in a beer, and IPAs basically offer one thing - bitterness. I know they only have to have 7.5% alcohol to count in the traditional sense, but most IPAs are much weaker, so you don't even have an homage to tradition; if there is a high %, then it is not cut by any sweetness so the bitter brew also tastes a bit like rubbing alcohol. Those who have a taste for IPAs will be better reviewers - I dislike the lot of them.
