It smells like a skunk but even after the bitter/tart hits your mouth you realize it is very crisp and clean.
Perhaps my favorite new beer, and I don't say that lightly. It has a slight tartness that's baffling - until you realize it's the same flavor as a good sake, in beer form. Very drinkable, very tasty. Something everyone should try, though at $6 a bottle at my local beer store (Lost Dog in Arlington - get it while you can), split it with a friend.
Not a big fan. but definitely has a cult following. I think it tastes kind of like Pete's Strawberry blonde.
A bit funky compared to the norm, Hitachino's Red Rice Ale is definitely a beer that serves well for a change of pace. This is not a beer that isn't easily ignored while drinking, nor it is one to be forgotten. It might not be appropriate for those that find comfort in a tame flavor. However, if you are willing to take the risk and try something a bit more of the spectrum, Red Rice should be on your list.
Hard to track down but this is the best gluten free beer hands down. ( unless I am stupid and it is not gluten free, just made from rice ).
The bottle I had smelled very light struck and also had a lot of sediment. The taste was very good. It was crisp with a sweet flavor. Surprising because of the smell but very nice overall.
